A Circuit Court in Accra on Friday ordered the Police to intensify investigations to ensure that a prime suspect believed to be a white man in a GH¢ 7,200 fraud case is arrested.
The court was of the view that the whiteman, whose name is not known could be using his accomplices Kwabena Adomako and one Adjei, aka Frank, now on the run as frontline operatives.
The accused persons are alleged to have collected the money from Mr Moahammed Saani, the complainant under the pretext of supplying him with 72 parcels of Moringa seeds.
The court gave the orders when Adomako, charged with two counts of defrauding by false pretences appeared before it.
Adomako, a trader, pleaded not guilty to the charge and was admitted to bail in the sum of GH¢ 10,000 with two sureties to reappear on March 3.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector R.K. Dogbetey, said on January 29, this year, Adjei called the complainant on phone under a false presentation that he was working with a pharmaceutical company based in London and had his boss (who is a pharmacist) needed commercial quantities of Moringa seeds.
Prosecution said Adjei then convinced Mr Saani to purchase the Moringa seed for supply to his boss in London.
Complainant however, indicated that he did not know anything about seeds or where to get them.
Adjei therefore introduced Adomako to Mr Saani on phone as the sole distributing agent of the seeds in West Africa and later a whiteman to him as the boss.
On an agreed date, at a venue at Achimota, Adomako met and sold 72 parcels of a blackish substance sealed and labelled as moringa seeds valued GH¢ 7,200.
Prosecution said Adomako arranged for the complainant to meet the whiteman, who after inspecting the seeds appraised it to be of good quality but declined to buy it and requested for a total of 1,300 parcels of the stuff.
The accused persons thereafter, stopped calling the complainant.
On February 7, this year the accused persons resurfaced and proposed to meet him to supply him with more seeds but the complainant alerted the Police who arrested Adomako.
