The Awutu-Bawjiase Area Rural Bank has been commended for donating laboratory equipment and other tools worth about 8,000 Ghana cedis to the Bawjiase Health Centre.
The health caters for more than 150 communities in the Awutu-Bawjiase farming area which forms part of the Awutu-Senya District.
Lack of equipment always compels medical personnel running the centre to refer patients to either the Agona Swedru or Winneba Municipal Hospital for laboratory tests.
Mr Kweku Acquaah, President of the Central Regional Chapter of the Association of Rural and Community Banks, made the commendation at a ceremony at which Board of Directors of the Awutu Bawjiase Area Rural Bank formally handed over the equipment to management of the health centre.
Mr Acquaah expressed satisfaction that the directors, management and workers of the Bawjiase Area Rural Bank have collectively lived up to expectation and advised them to always guide against complacency so as to maintain their excellent performance.
Mr Dziwornu Alex Gaglo, the Senior Medical Assistant in-charge of the Bawjiase Health Centre, expressed appreciation to the donors and urged other groups to emulate the bank.
Mr Gaglo said with the installation of laboratory equipment the centre could now handle HIV/AIDS and other important laboratory tests.
