A 21-year-old fisherman, who broke into two separate rooms and stole cash, electrical appliances and personal effects, has been sentenced to six years' imprisonment with hard labour by a Circuit Court in Accra.
Jacob Mensah pleaded guilty to unlawful entry and stealing and the court presided over Mr Justice Joe Abanga convicted him accordingly.
Inspector Jubiok Michaels told the court that at about midnight on June 3, the convict, who lived at Gbegbeyise in Accra, broke the door of Ms Agnes Boakye, a hairdresser resident at Ebenezer down, near Dansoman, and stole GH¢752 cedis, a computer, a DVD deck and a suitcase containing her personal effects.
Prosecution said on the same day he also broke into the room of Mr James Obo Shaibu at Dansoman and made away with a DVD deck, a Nokia mobile phone, and GH¢2.
Insp. Michaels said luck, however, ran out on Mensah when witnesses in the case chased and arrested him in the house.
Prosecution told the court that Mensah pulled out a knife but he was over powered and handed over to the Police at Dansoman.
During Police interrogation, he admitted the offence saying he committed the crime with two others who had escaped.
