The Accra Regional Police Command on Friday arrested 127 suspects including 10 females as part of measurers to rid the city of criminals.
The police personnel, comprising 50 officers and 200 men, rounded them up in Gbawe, Agbogbloshie, Sowutuom, Odorkor, Odorna, Neoplan Station and Dansoman and its surroundings.
Some of the items seized during the swoop include quantity of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, a pistol, eight Ghanaian passports believed to have been snatched or stolen from their owners, machetes, knives, television sets, sound systems and a laptop.
Superintendent of Police Aboagye Sarpong, Regional Operations Commander, led the exercise.
Briefing the press on the exercise, the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rose Bio Atinga, said some of the suspects were caught smoking Indian hemp, while others had in their possession some of the dried leaves.
Ms Atinga said one person who was found in possession of the pistol used the weapon to terrorise persons at
Odorkor.
She said the exercise would continue in the metropolis and that the police would screen the suspects and those found culpable would be put before court.
Ms Atinga called for more collaboration between the police and the judiciary to ensure that the people found culpable would be dealt with in accordance with the law.
She appealed to the public to continue to offer more information to the police.
