Ms Margaret Atuahene, a Nutritionist with the Ministry of Health, has been enstooled as the new Nkosuohemaa of Apedwa in the Eastern Region.
The nomination and enstoolment of Ms Atuahene who is also a lecturer at the School of Health Sciences, at the University of Ghana, Legon, was the result of her key contribution to the development of the town through the Town Development Association.
As her new title implies, Ms Atuahene promised to facilitate the development of Apedwa by mobilising the people to chip in their quota to the process, no matter how small or large their contributions are.
She pledged to encourage female education by liaising with the chief of the town, Barima Ohenakwa Kwarifa II, to ensure that as many girls as possible attended school while the youth take advantage of the skill training facility offered by the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) in order to become responsible citizens in future.
"As a an expert in Health, I will promote good health practices, among the people, encourage them to live healthier lives, and take steps to improve on sanitation in the community as a means of controlling environmental and sanitation related diseases.
The Nkosuohemaa has since been outdoored and taken her oath of office at the palace before Barima Ohenakwa Kwarifa.
