A 250-million US dollar Economic Development Plan for the Volta Region, is to be launched at the Accra International Conference Centre on Tuesday, June 30, this year.
A commemorative book on the fifth anniversary of the ascension to power of Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, would also be launched at the same programme at which President John Evans Atta Mills is expected to be in attendance as guest of honour.
A press release issued by the Asogli State Council and signed by John Kukah, Secretary to the Council, said the programme was under the aegis of the Asogli State Council and the Volta Regional House of Chiefs.
It said the economic development plan dubbed 'Pathway to Prosperity,' outlines the various development projects that the traditional authorities plan to undertake over the next five years to bring about real improvement that will
change the lives of the people and enhance progress towards the attainment of the Millennium Development Goals.
The anniversary book, entitled 'Making a Difference,' summarizes the various peace and development initiatives pursued by Togbe Afede XIV during the first five year of his reign.
