The State Insurance Life Company (SIC) Limited on Tuesday presented a cheque for GH¢3,000 and relief items valued at GH¢4,000 to flood victims in Bolgatanga Municipality in the Upper East Region.
This was in response to an appeal made by the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga Central Constituency, Mr. Opam-Brown Akolbire when the floods occurred last August and destroyed property including farms, food items, houses and some roads.
The relief items comprised 25 bags of maize, 10 bags of rice, five bags of millet and nine bags of second hand clothing.
The staff of SIC Life also donated two boxes of assorted clothing including shoes and slippers to the victims.
The Managing Director of SIC Life, Mr. Issah Abdul-Raman Anafure who presented the cheque to the Deputy Regional Minister, Mrs. Lucy Awuni on behalf of Mr. Akolbire, said the gesture was part of the social responsibilities of the company.
Mrs. Awuni thanked SIC for the donation and appealed to other public spirited individuals and organisations to emulate the kind gesture.
