Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has sent a congratulatory message to Peter Cardinal Turkson on his appointment by Pope Benedict XVI as President of the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace.
A statement signed by Mr Frank Agyekum, Press Secretary at the Office of the former President, said the elevation was testimony of his hard work.
It said: "Undoubtedly, this is an honour well-deserved and testimony to your hard work in the service of the Catholic Church and to propagating the good news of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, throughout the world."
