Mrs Alice Kusi, Sunyani West District Chief Executive has assured schools in the district that government would soon furnish the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) centres with computers.
She said the measures were to assist the schools to have access to the centres for ICT classes.
Mrs Kusi gave the assurance in an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Odomase, on Wednesday, when some head teachers and pupils from some schools in the district complained about not having access to computers during ICT classes.
She said the assembly was aware of the situation and government had provided computers for the ICT centers at Nsoatre, Chiraa and Odomase.
The pupils had earlier appealed to government to assist them with computer laboratories, whilst the teachers had complained that it was difficult to teach ICT without computers.
Mr Charles Amoah, ICT teacher at the Odomase Presbyterian JHS said sometimes he had to draw some parts of the computer on the board before the students could identify them.
He said the school has only one computer but it cannot be used since the school had no electricity.
Mrs Sarah Oteng, head teacher of the school attributed the poor performance of the students in ICT to the lack of infrastructure and unavailability of computers.
Mr Ernest Anning Boamah, Assistant head teacher of the Odomase Methodist JHS said the assembly had put up an ICT centre in the town since 2008 but was yet to provide the computers.
He said the centre has no electricity and appealed to the assembly to ensure the centre was made operational to help the school and the people of the town.
