Mr Albert Kobina Koomson, Director for Distant Education Continuation, University College, Cape Coast, (UCCC) on Wednesday said a centre of the institution would soon be established in Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District.
He said the Centre would reduce the travelling distance of students from the area who use the facility.
Mr Koomson made the announcement during the installation of Nana Kwaw Fosu III, known in private life as Mr Adu Gyampoh, as the Odikro of Breman Jamra in the Breman Asikuma Traditional Area.
Nana Kwaw Fosu was an Assistant Senior Administrator of the Distant Education Continuation Centre at Ho in the Volta Region until his installation.
Mr Koomson said the establishment of the centre is to support the expansion of education in the district.
The Director said Nana Kwaw Fosu graduated at the UCCC in 2008 and did his National Service there and then posted to Ho where he was until his installation as a chief.
Mr Koomson said he had established 48 distant learning centres throughout the country within the past 14 years and that plans are far advanced for the Breman Asikuma centre to start.
