Scancom Limited, operators of MTN, has confirmed that a shed at its warehouse on the Spintex Road, caught fire on Tuesday January 1, 2013, and assured its customers of continued service delivery.
According to a statement, copied to the GNA in Accra on Thursday, the cause of the fire and the value of items destroyed were still under investigation.
The fire, which started around 1100 was brought under control by 1500 hours with the support of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFA) and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and other volunteers.
Mr. Ebenezer Asante, Acting Chief Executive Officer of MTN, said: "the safety and security of all stakeholders involved, remains MTN's top priority and we are glad the situation was brought under control without any fatalities. We wish to express our profound gratitude to the officials of the GNFS, NADMO and the volunteers for their efforts and hard work.
"MTN remains committed to providing the best of telecommunications services against all odds and will put in place measures to minimize any potential effects of the fire outbreak".
The statement said that MTN praised its stakeholders, customers and the public for their concern and assistance.
