The Member of Parliament(MP) for Gomoa Central, Naana Eyiah Quansah has presented singer sewing machines to 13 seamstress apprentices to enable them complete their three- year apprenticeship programme.
Naana Eyiah Quansah, has also fully paid for the three- year apprentice fees for all the 13 to reduce financial burdens of their parents. At the ceremony, the MP said she had also paid fees for eight hairdressing apprentices’ fees and would soon present them with hair dryers and other machines for their use soon after their graduation.
She said Junior High School students who for one or two reasons could not have the opportunity to attend Senior High School should not regret in life but strive hard to become self-reliant.The MP said the Nana Akufo-Addo led government was poised to support individual businesses to create jobs and wealth and appealed to the apprentices to give maximum respect to their teachers and elders in the society, adding that humility was the antidote to success in life.
Mr Benjamin Kojo Otoo, DCE nominee for Gomoa East District assured the beneficiaries that the NPP government would never fail practical and policies that would promote the welfare of Ghanaians. He urged them to desist from acts that would disrupt their visions of becoming self-employed in society.
Mr Otoo who is also Chairman of the Gomoa Central Constituency of the New Patriotic Party stated that policies and programmes involving the private sector would never be abandoned. Mr Robert Mensah, Gomoa East District Director of Education commended the MP for the frantic efforts made to provide jobs for students who could not make it to the Senior High schools.
He said education directorate had put in place plans to support apprentices who would complete the programmes to be awarded National Vocational Training Institute (NVT I) certificates to assist them gain employment in other government institutions.
Mr Emmanuel Baisie, Gomoa East District Coordinating Director said the Rural Enterprise Programme would offer small loans to apprentices after graduation to establish their shops. He said the Gomoa East Assembly had rolled out model programmes for JHS and SHS students in the district to assist them in gainful employment to improve their living standards.
