No explanation has been given regarding the reason for his visit, however his spokesman Femi Adesina has told the BBC's Hausa service that the Nigerian leader will be in the UK "until Monday next week."
Mr Buhari spent more than 100 days in London receiving treatment for an undisclosed illness earlier this year. Last week Mr Adesina said that President Buhari would pass through London on his way home from the UN general assembly.
