He said there was the need for unity in the NPP in order for the party to retain power in the 2020 general election, stating that unity was necessary in order for the party to become the choice of the masses in the next election.

Speaking to the Daily Graphic, Mr Arhin, a 66-year-old businessman, declared: “We cannot but unite for strength if the party is to be attractive to others to be able to retain power in 2020.”

He promised to merge the older members of the party with the youth to stimulate unity of purpose for progress.

Old folks

Mr Arhin said if elected, he would ensure that the ‘old folks’ were recognised as they could become an asset to inspire the youth to give of their best for the party.

“Many supporters who have sacrificed for the NPP in the past seem to have been forgotten by the party,” he added.

Mr Arhin, who is popularly called “Wewebi”, has been a major financier of the party in the constituency and is credited for sponsoring the party’s 2016 campaign, as well as other Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) activities in the constituency.

He also served in various capacities in the then Cape Coast Constituency.

Accountability

Mr Arhin noted that his administration would provide a clear and accountable leadership, adding that he would ensure that available channels in the constituency were followed in the execution of all duties.

He promised to bring a new visionary leadership to the party to make it more attractive to all and sundry.

Vision

Mr Arhin, who has been a member of the party since 1992 and a founder member in the Abura and Pedu area in Cape Coast, further promised to institute an award scheme to reward loyal and committed polling station executives and other supporters for effective campaigning to retain power in 2020.

Mr Arhin noted that finance, audit, organising, research and communications committees would be established to enhance effective party administration in the constituency.

He promised to ensure financial discipline by opening bank accounts for each electoral area within the first six months of his tenure and work with all executives and grassroot members if given the nod.

Mr Arhin, therefore, called on the members of the party in the constituency to give him the opportunity to lead the party.
