The campaign team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer hopeful, Professor Joshua Alabi has assured delegates and the entire NDC fraternity of civil and decorous campaign.
It also promised to have a crusade hinged on issues affecting the party at the grassroots level which bothers on mutual respect.
The Campaign Coordinator of Team Alabi, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu gave the assurance when he addressed the media in Accra yesterday indicating that the message of the team was “new leader, new hope, solution 2020, possible together”.
The event which was on the theme: ‘Road to victory 2020 by team Alabi’ was to outdoor the vision of Prof. Alabi and raise concerns affecting people at the grassroots.
He said the firm belief of the team was that it was God that establishes kingdoms and except he builds a house, they labour in vain that builds it thereby urging all aspirants to rally behind the winner at the end of the race.
Recounting the journey, Mr Adawudu indicated that Prof Alabi was a Member of Parliament for Krowor Constituency in the Greater Accra Region from 1997 to 2001 and the Greater Accra Regional Minister and later the Northern Regional Minister during the tenure of Flt Lt J.J Rawlings.
“He was the first Vice Chancellor of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) from 2012 to 2016.
“Our campaign approach will give assurance to the rank and file of the party their legitimate concerns and participation in decision making will become one of the building blocks of the party.
“During the team’s engagements with the grassroots, it was evident that, there was the need to deepen the process of decision making and building the grassroots of the party among various branch and constituency executive committees.
“Lack of consultation with the grassroots by the leadership in addressing their legitimate concerns seems to be one of the major issues affecting the party.
“The approach in addressing the challenges should be at the fore or the party’s rebranding and mobilisation for victory in the next elections which should involve branch executives in the flagbearer election as one of the ways in addressing some of the challenges in the party,” Mr Adawudu stressed.
