The Nigerian Air Force says one of its aircraft on routine mission in the north-east region has lost radar contact.

The Director of Public Relations and Information Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet said the aircraft was on routine mission to support troops fighting an insurgency.

He said efforts were currently ongoing to locate its whereabouts.

Seven air force officers were killed in a crash in February after reporting engine failure during a mission support.
