The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Anlo, Sandra Seyram Kpedor, has pledged to encourage grass-roots inclusion in policymaking and the holistic development of communities.
She also pledged to encourage women to take up leadership roles in the district.
She said in that regard, the health and well-being of the people would be among the top priorities of the assembly.
In an interview in Anloga last Saturday, Mrs Kpedor said she would ensure that great zeal and resources were committed to the completion of the 'Agenda 111' project at Agortoe, envisioned as a major referral centre for the district.
Further, the former National Democratic Congress (NDC) Women’s Organiser for Anlo gave an assurance to work around the clock for the upgrade of the Anloga Clinic into a fully-fledged polyclinic, and to improve the CHPS compounds by ensuring that the two facilities were fully staffed with qualified professionals.
On education, the DCE said her main concern was to address infrastructure deficits in the basic schools by providing desks, textbooks, and recruiting more trained teachers.
She pledged to launch the DCE’s Inter-Senior High School Quiz competition to foster academic excellence and support brilliant, needy senior high school graduates with scholarships to further their studies in tertiary institutions.
Meanwhile, Mrs Kpedor said the construction and upgrading of farm access roads in farming communities, as well as the full construction of strategic roads, such as the Galo-Sota Junction-Bomingo, Agortoe Junction-Bleamazato, Kome Junction-Fiaxor, and Savietula-Dzita-Anyanui-Tunu roads, would receive serious attention from the assembly.
“Quality roads are essential for mobility, trade, and economic growth,” she explained.
The one-time Vice-Chairman of the NDC China Chapter said Anloga had a rich tourism potential.
“So, I will lobby the government to invest in key sites like Torkor Atorlia, Atorkor Slave Market, Dzita Turtle Grounds, Cape St Paul Lighthouse, and the Fuveme Estuary,” she stated.
“I will work closely with our Member of Parliament (MP), traditional authorities, the Ministry of Roads, and donor agencies to ensure the timely execution of those projects,” Ms Kpedor affirmed.
The DCE said she would at all times be inspired by the love for the home district and strong desire to transform the lives of the vulnerable in the performance of her duties.
