The Volta Regional Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appealed to all party members and supporters to use dialogue and established party structures to resolve their grievances.
“Our collective reputation and unity are far more valuable than any temporary dissatisfaction,” it said.
A statement issued and signed by the Volta Regional Chairman of the party, Mawutor Agbavitor, therefore, urged party members to refrain from taking matters into their own hands.
It acknowledged the contribution of the rank and file of the party in the region for their unwavering commitment, tireless efforts and dedication that contributed significantly to our resounding victory in the recent elections.
“Your role in returning the NDC to power is deeply recognised and valued by all genuine party members,” it said.
The statement assured all members that the Volta Region would receive its fair and deserved share of appointments and developmental opportunities in the new government.
It said the leadership was fully committed to ensuring equity and fairness in the distribution of positions.
The statement said the FEC had taken note of the recent incidents involving the locking up of government offices in some parts of the region.
It said that while the FEC understood the frustrations and concerns being expressed, such actions cast an unfortunate shadow over the party's image and risk undermining the very progress we have fought for.
It acknowledged that not everyone could be appointed to public office, stressing that “nevertheless, the party remains committed to identifying various avenues to recognise and reward the hard work and loyalty of our grassroots members.”
The statement said there were numerous ways to serve and benefit from the fruits of the collective victory.
“Let us continue to work together in unity and patience, guided by the principles and values that have brought us this far,” it said.
It reminded all party members that the Volta Region remained a stronghold of the NDC and together, “we will ensure that our region benefits fully from the success we have achieved.”
