Mr. Park Kyongsig, the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, has pledged his country's commitment to developing and implementing initiatives that will help empower the Ghanaian youth.
He said it was important for Ghana and Korea to strengthen the existing political, economic and cultural exchange partnerships to promote sustained development for the benefit of the people.
Mr. Kyongsig was speaking at a meeting with Mr. Elvis Osei Mensah Dapaah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South-West constituency of the Ashanti Region, and some key stakeholders at Mankranso.
He emphasized that Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH) and the Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF), were some of the useful Korean international development programmes, which shared benefits could be extended to the area.
The meeting was at the instance of the MP to seek the support and partnership of the Korean government to promote the development of the area by exploring opportunities and programmes that could be supported under the various Korean development programmes.
It was also aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the constituency and the government of Korea to promote and enhance trade, socio-economic development, access to quality health care and modernized agriculture.
Mr Mensah Dapaah, on his part, said projects which were being supported by the Korean government under its various development programmes, aligned with his vision to expand access to technical and vocational education for youth, support women-led entrepreneurship, engage farmers in cooperative farming and improve healthcare delivery.
He mentioned mobile clinics or CHIP compound upgrades, agro-processing and mechanization, scholarships or training opportunities for deserving students and professionals, as some key programmes he intended to execute through the support and partnership of the Korean government.
Mr Mensah Dapaah assured the Ambassador of his commitment to facilitate any collaborative effort to bring long-term benefits to his constituents and the people of the Korean Republic.
Nana (Dr.) Agyemang Duah, Chief of Kunsu, commended the MP for the initiative and called for the effective and speedy implementation of the plans at the meeting for collective benefits of all stakeholders.
