The New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 parliamentary candidate for Dome-Kwabenya, Mike Oquaye Jnr, has pledged to unite with former Member of Parliament for the area, Sarah Adwoa Safo, to help secure victory for the party’s flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the 2028 general elections.
Mr. Oquaye Jnr and Ms. Safo have reportedly not been on speaking terms following their contest in the party’s internal parliamentary primaries.
Mr. Oquaye Jnr subsequently lost the 2024 parliamentary election to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Elikplim Akurugu.
Speaking at a meeting attended by Dr. Bawumia, Adwoa Safo, and party supporters, Mr. Oquaye Jnr stressed the need for unity within the party, particularly in the Dome-Kwabenya constituency.
He emphasised the need to mend divisions and rally support behind the NPP flagbearer ahead of the 2028 polls.
“Unity is key. I can assure you that in the coming months, my sister Adwoa Safo and I will visit you together in unity. Our joint visit will serve as clear proof of the unity and prosperity we believe will come under your leadership.
“United we stand, divided we fall. We will begin the unity Dr. Bawumia has been preaching right here in Dome-Kwabenya,” he said.
He further urged party members to intensify their efforts ahead of the next general elections.
“We need to put in extra effort to ensure Dr. Bawumia becomes President of Ghana. We are one family, and we have full confidence in him. We love him as our brother,” he added.
