President John Atta Mills on Thursday got on the same bus with Ministers of State, senior members of Government and workers of the Office of the President at the Osu Castle to attend this week's cabinet meeting, held outside Presidency.
Security details and journalists waited at the Kofi Annan International Peace Keeping Centre at Teshie, near Accra, the venue for the meeting, in anticipation of a large presidential convoy with the President in a separate limousine, amidst the blaring of sirens.
Contrary to their expectation, however, President Mills arrived in the same 33-Seater Mercedes Benz Bus, with many of his Ministers, other Members of Government and Castle Staff for the meeting.
Thursdays are the designated days for cabinet meetings usually held at the Osu Castle in Accra, the seat of Government.
The change of the venue is to allow a lot more people to participate in the meeting because of the issues involved, Mr Koku Anyidoho, Director of Communications at the Office of the President, told journalists.
Mr Anyodoho explained that Government was on course with the implementation of the Better Ghana Agenda, which required a lot more inputs into the meeting.
Issues being discussed were job creation, investment in people and the expansion of infrastructure with the overall objective of improving the lives of the majority of Ghanaians.
According to Mr Anyidoho, the decision by the President to get on the same bus with Ministers of State and the Castle Staff was an integral part of the change in the President's style of governance.
"It is also to demystify the Presidency," Mr Anyidoho said, adding that it was also a form of camaraderie and building the esprit de corps.
Mr Anyidoho observed that President Mills had since the beginning of April 2010, been pulling surprises, through his unannounced and surprise visits to state institutions.
He added on a lighter note that there would be more positive surprises from the President in times to come.
