Sudanese President Omar al- Bashir has reiterated his government's commitment to organize the general election in the country as scheduled in April.
"The general election will be held as cheduled. They will not be postponed," said al-Bashir when addressing a rally in Khartoum.
He said that those who demand postponement of the elections should know that the elections would not be delayed and that they should go to the voting boxes.
The Sudanese president affirmed his government's ability to organize free and credible elections that would be appreciated by the international community and the Sudanese political forces.
Sudanese opposition political parties recently submitted a memo to the Presidency and the National Elections Commission (NEC), demanding postponement of the elections until November.
This year's general election would be the first multi-party election in Sudan in more than 20 years.
