Sudan on Wednesday affirmed the importance of comprehensive reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas to unite the Palestinian stance, and expressed readiness to support all efforts to
narrow the differences between the two factions.
Sudanese assistant to president and deputy chairman of the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) Nafie Ali Nafie on Wednesday held talks with a Hamas
delegation headed by the chairman of Hamas political bureau Khaled Mashaal.
Following the talks Nafie told reporters that Sudan's stance was firm in supporting the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
He further stressed Sudan's support for the Palestinian people and its readiness to play a role in narrowing the differences among the Palestinian
factions.
The Sudanese official also called for continuation of the international campaign in solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, and intensifying
the pressure on Israel to lift the siege from Gaza.
Mashaal for his part, praised Sudan's supportive stance to the Palestinian people and their rightful cause together with its efforts to unite the
Palestinian factions and achieve reconciliation among them.
He said the Hamas delegation had got acquainted with the developments in Sudan and the ongoing efforts to enhance the peace course and resolve the
Darfur issue.
Hamas delegation arrived in Khartoum Wednesday and is expected to meet with the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir and a number of Sudanese officials.
