Mr. Dominic Nitiwul, the Member of Parliament for Bimbilla, has urged the youth to ensure that Nana Akufo-Addo wins the forthcoming New Patriotic Party primaries to lead the party in the next election because he holds the key to their future wellbeing.
"We should not allow the National Democratic Congress to select a presidential candidate for us and if we do we will lose the elections."
Mr. Nitiwul was addressing delegates to the forthcoming presidential candidate primaries of the party in the Wa Central constituency at the week
end.
He described Nana Akufo-Addo as a selfless and competent person who over the years had fought for justice and the rule of law and would meet the
aspirations of all Ghanaians if he is chosen to lead the country.
He said Nana Akufo-Addo supported the proposal to allow all polling station executives to vote in the party's primaries and it was therefore up to them to reciprocate it by electing him to lead the party.
Mr. Clement Eledi, a former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, advised delegates not to judge the candidates by how handsome they were because the
race was not a beauty contest.
He said no opposition party candidate in the country had ever won the presidential elections in his first attempt and therefore there was no
justification to bring a new candidate to lead the party.
Mr. Sahanun Mogtari, a former Upper West Regional Minister said the party was not looking for a presidential candidates but a winner and Nana
Akufo-Addo who lost to then candidate Prof John Atta Mills in Election 2008 should not be dropped for any other candidate.
