Alhaji Hafiz Adam, Techiman Municipal Co-ordinating Director, has noted that public officials owe it a duty to be loyal to the State and the Government in power, stressing: "It is through loyalty that trust is established."
"The core business of civil servants is to assist the government of the day to formulate and implement policies that will impact positively on the lives of the citizenry," he added.
Alhaji Adam made this known at the first quarterly meeting of heads of department of the Municipal Assembly in Techiman.
He said nothing debars public officers from belonging to political parties of their choice but cautioned them not to allow their political
persuasions to influence their work.
The Co-ordinating Director appealed to heads of department to endeavour to attend executive committee meetings of the assembly to share their
experience to facilitate effective co-ordination of work.
Mr Alex Kofi Kyeremeh, Municipal Chief Executive, said the Local Government Act 462 of 1993 made it the responsibility of the assembly to
guide, encourage, initiate and support agencies, bodies and individuals in matters bothering on development programmes.
He expressed the hope that participation in such programmes would foster commitment and a sense of ownership of development plans and priorities of the assembly.
Mr Kyeremeh warned that non-performing heads of department in the municipality who failed to present their quarterly reports to the assembly
would be sanctioned.
