Describing Manmohan Singh and David Cameron as truly visionary Prime Ministers, a leading Non-Resident Indian (NRI) industrialist Wednesday hoped that their meeting would create a unique and equal bilateral partnership, giving fillip to trade and investment, exchange of talent and skills.
"We hope David Cameron and Dr Manmohan Singh, two truly visionary Prime Ministers will be able to create a unique and equal partnership which will further trade and investment, the exchange of talent and skills and technology between the two countries," S P Hinduja, Chairman of the
Hinduja Group, said in a statement.
He hoped Cameron's two-day official visit to India would provide "real opportunities to bring even closer ties between the countries in the years ahead."
"This visit by Cameron is reminiscent of our
interaction with the two 'Iron Ladies', the earlier Conservative Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher and Indira Gandhi, and how we encouraged them to promote closer political and economic ties between the two countries," he said.
Cameron is scheduled to arrive in India Wednesday on his maiden two-day visit.
"The new Government recognises both how India has a wealth of opportunities for inward investment for British companies across range of sectors including education, infrastructure, financial and legal services and defence and
how it values the contribution and investment Indian companies have made into the UK over many years.
"Furthermore, the UK's growing support for India will help bring greater security and stability for the whole region," he said.
