The Konongo-Mampong Diocesan Association of Catholic Teachers (KOMADACT), have appealed to political leaders in neighbouring Ivory Coast to ensure calm and allow peace to prevail in the country.
The Association said the political leaders in that country should put the general good of their nation ahead of narrow and selfish political ambition.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Association and signed by its Coordinator, Mr Williams Boakye-Baafi, at Ejisu.
The disputed presidential run-off between President Laurent Gbagbo and Allassane Ouattara has led to political tension as both men had claimed victory in the poll and gone ahead to form rival governments.
The Association said it was deeply troubled by the hard line positions adopted by the two leaders and warned that the situation if not carefully handled could explode into nasty bloody clashes with devastating impact, especially on the West African Sub-Region.
The teachers appealed to the Ghana Catholic Bishops Conference and their counterparts in Ivory Coast to step in to peacefully resolve the impasse.
