The team, made up of Emmanuel Yaw Donkor, Abraham Ayittey, Daniel Sam and Michael Opoku Baah, made it to the semi-finals after topping their group, beating Egypt 3-2 in the quarter-finals but lost 1-3 to Nigeria last Thursday.
This means the team's dream of getting selected to represent Africa for the first time at the Badminton World Federation`s World Teams Championships slated for Thailand in May has been shattered.
Both Donkor and Ayittey, who started on a good note, lost to their opponents after suffering injuries during the semi-final game.
Ghana’s female team, Stella Amassah, Grace Atipaka, Eyram Migbordzi and Gifty Mensah lost their matches at the group stages of the competition.
While Algeria defeated Nigeria 3-2 to win the ultimate in the men's division, Mauritius also walloped Nigeria’s women's team 3-0 to win the giant trophy and other prizes at stake.
The Ghanaian team is expected back home on Tuesday.
