Taro Daniel defeated Jeremy Chardy on Saturday to advance to the final of the ATP BNP Paribas Istanbul Open.
The Japanese-American claimed the first set 6-3 with ease after two breaks, but Chardy came back to take the next set 4-6 with heavy forehand ground strokes.
The final set of the two-and-a-half-hour match saw Daniel, who is World No. 114, eventually win 6-4 after holding his serve and going onto break Chardy again.
Daniel will face Tunisian Malek Jaziri now in the final, after the 34-year-old beat Serbian tennis player Laslo Djere in straight sets 6-3, 6-2.
No matter who wins the final, it will be a guaranteed first-time ATP World Tour champion.
