The former Wolfsburg star in an interview at the launch of the 2018/2019 Bundesliga coverage by digital television operator, StarTimes last Friday in Accra said Bayern have a greater chance to add to their record 18 titles because of the superior quality of their squad.

"Bayern has a bigger chance to win the league because they have quality in all areas. As usual, Dortmund will be their challenge," said Akunnor who spent five years (1998-2003) at Wolfsburg.

He also stated that just like in the 2017/2018 season which saw unfancied Hoffenheim claim one of the UEFA Champions League slots there will be some surprises in which other teams complete the top 6 on the league table.

In an address before the coverage was launched, the Acting Editor of the Graphic Sports, Mr Maurice Quansah noted the contributions of the Bundesliga to the development of Ghanaian players.

He mentioned that the likes of the legendary Charles Kumi (CK) Gyamfi who was among the first African professionals to feature in the league.

“Having the German Bundesliga on our screen is the best thing I wish for, growing up we were fed with it. German football has grown over the years and has had a strong connection with Ghana football because one of our distinguished football personalities, C.K Gyamfi played in Germany before he handed our national team and handed us our unprecedented success,” Mr Quansah said.
