Ghana’s Emmanuel “Gameboy” Tagoe (30-1, 14 KO's), is now the number one contender on the rankings of the World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Lightweight division.
According to the rankings released by the international body for May, the Ghanaian is likely to be the next opponent of the champion in that division.
Vasyl Lomachenko (13-1, 10Ko's) still rules the division and recently defeated Anthony Crolla to retain his World Boxing Association and WBO Lightweight titles at Staples Center, Los Angeles, United States of America (USA).
Tagoe was earlier ranked third, before making a quick move to the top spot.
Tagoe who demonstrated his exceptional boxing prowess when he dominated Russia's Vyacheslav Gusev back in February, was due to fight in the United States of America (USA) with his new promotion outfit Lou Dibella Entertainment but plans foiled in the process.
Tagoe, a former International Boxing Organisation (IBO) Lightweight champion, is expected to be back in the ring on June 15, as he takes on Julius Munyelele Indongo of Namibia, in Kumasi.
