Samuel Owusu, Black Stars new sensation, has attributed his performance in the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), to sound guidance from the senior players in the team.
Having featured having featured in all three games played so far, Owusu said he was pleased with his output so far and looking forward for more success.
Owusu 23, who plies his trade with Serbian Club Cukaricki said in an interview with the GNA Sports after the Stars win over Guinea-Bissau at the Suez Sports Stadium, that he was having a good time both on and off the pitch.
He added that, the senior players have given him the needed guidance and mentorship to succeed.
On his performance, Owusu who came on as substitute in the first and second games and a starting role in the last Group F game, said “I have had a good performance throughout my maiden tournament and I can’t but thank my team mates for my performance so far.
“It was tough for us as a team in our previous games but we have lifted ourselves up, which is very good for us going into the next round of games, where we have enjoyed so much team work. It is a good encouragement for us going into the next round of games”.
According to him, the AFCON stage was a perfect platform for him to develop as a young player.
“For me the stage is not too big for me to exhibit my talent, I have always harbored a dream of playing at the highest level of football and this is the time. This is my maiden tournament and, though it will come difficult, I am doing my best as a player.
Owusu who started his footballing career with Red Bull in Ghana, had stints with Serbian side Radnik Surdulica from 2014/2016 season as well as with Turkish club Gençlerbirli?i in the 2016/2017 season before joining Cukaricki in Serbia, where he has made sixty-two appearances with eleven goals in the process.
