After signing Maxwell Konadu as the Head Coach, Asante Kotoko is looking forward to augment their squad with top players ahead of the upcoming 2019/2020 Ghana Premiere League season.
Having set a target to win the upcoming league, Coach Konadu would also count on the club’s management to produce him all his transfer targets in order to make his target set by the club achievable.
Information gathered by the GNA Sports reveals that Kotoko is targeting two top strikers, a midfielder and two full backs after the departure of Jordan Opoku, Augustine Sefa, and Kwame Boahen.
Ashanti Gold’s midfielder Appiah McCarthy remains the primary target for the Porcupine Warriors according to the report. The former Asokwa Depiortivo man still has a contract with AshGold, but he is set to welcome a move back to his home city Kumasi, if Kotoko can meet the miners demand.
Another AshGold midfield enforcer, Latif Anabila is reported to be an option for Kotoko if a proposed move for MaCarthy fails. Both players have worked with Coach Maxwell Konadu in the Black Stars B team that finished second in the 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal, where they impressed the gaffer.
Bolga United left-back, Moro Ibrahim has also appeared on the list of the transfer targets for Asante Kotoko. According to reports, the two teams are currently in negotiation for the left-back and a deal could be finalized in the next few days if the two teams agree.
Asante Kotoko is also monitoring the contract situation of Accra Hearts of Oak right back and captain Fatau Dauda as Coach Konadu has shown interest in the experienced player.
The player is currently in negotiation with Hearts over a new contract but both parties are yet to settle.
Former Hearts of Oak winger Patrick Razak remains a transfer replacement for Kwame Boahen who departed from the club last month. The former Horoya AC player is currently back home after his difficult stint with the Guinean side.
The Porcupine Warriors are also considering buying two top strikers from Mali to augment their striking force, according to reports.
