A former World Boxing Organisation (WBO) super bantamweight champion, Isaac ‘Royal Storm’ Dogboe, has set his sight on another world title as he comes up against the American, Adam Lopez, at the Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas on June 19.

Dogboe’s fight with Lopez will be a 10-round featherweight undercard to the WBA and IBF World Bantamweight Championship bout between Japan’s Naoya Inoue and Michael Dasmarinas of the Phillipines.

The 26-year-old Ghanaian is expected to make a return after 11 months, following an explosive eighth-round stoppage win over Chris Avalos last July.

Dogboe has had a very tough return to the sport after two consecutive defeats to Mexico’s Emanuel Navarrete. Those painful losses led to the Ghanaian staying out of the sport for over a year.

The Ghanaian finally bounced back with changes to his corner as hall of fame trainers, Patrice Harris and Barry Hunter, took over the technical team with his father being left out.

Dogboe is focused on earning another important win in his quest to land another title shot by the close of the year, but Lopez, on the other hand, needs his maiden world championship bout.

The 25-year old Lopez has impressed by winning two straight fights following a controversial stoppage loss to Oscar Valdez in November 2019, a bout which saw Lopez dropping the undefeated two-division champion.

Lopez wrote on social media that he was ready to steal the show against the former world champion despite knowing his qualities in the ring.

“Dogboe is a former world champion who always comes to fight. But I’m a different fighter now, and I know what a win would mean for my career. I’m coming to Las Vegas to steal the show,” he said.

Dogboe takes another major step forward as he prepares to face an equally hungry Lopez in a battle tipped to produce fireworks.
