Several police officers who represented Uganda at the Tokyo Olympics have been promoted.
The inspector general of police said the athletes were "being rewarded for the great success, pride and jubilation they brought to the institution and the country".
The officers are:
Steeplechase runner and gold medallist Peruth Chemutai, promoted from a constable to an inspector
Long distance runner Mercyline Chelangat, promoted from an assistant inspector to an inspector
Marathon runner Immaculate Chemutai, promoted from a corporal to a sergeant
And sprinter Leni Shida, promoted from a constable to a corporal.
The promotions of long distance runner and gold medallist Joshua Cheptegei and his coach Benjamin Njia from inspector to assistant superintendent were still being "fast-tracked", the police statement said.
In August, Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni said Olympic medal-winning athletes would be given cars and houses.
