Ayew, who will be making his seventh AFCON appearance, is optimistic the team has what it takes to end the nation’s 40-year AFCON drought.

Ghana will engage favourite Morocco in one of the tough games of the group stages as both sides look to record a win on in their opening game.

Speaking ahead of the game, Ayew said the players are ready to prove their worth to the nation by giving a good account of themselves against Morocco.

“It is not going to be easy but we are ready to die for the national jersey and to ensure we make a good of ourselves to Ghanaians.

“This is very important if we want to win the tournament and we are ready to achieve that. We know we have what it takes to win the tournament,” said Ayew.

Ghana are looking to start on a bright note by beating their Northern African side on Monday before playing Gabon and Comoros on Friday and Tuesday respectively.
