Kindergarten to Junior High Schools revert to the Trimester system

The Ministry of Education has directed Kindergarten to Junior High Schools to revert to the Trimester system school calendar for the current academic year, instead of the proposed Semester system.

Consequently, new dates have been announced for the various school terms for Kindergarten to Junior High Schools as follows:

	DATE	DURATION	VACATION
1st Term	18th January - 14th April	12 weeks	15th April - 9th May
2nd Term	10th May - 18th August	14 weeks	19th August - 12th September
3rd Term	13th September - 22nd December	14 weeks

A statement issued by the Ministry of Education said the reversion to the trimester system follows representation from a section of the public and key educational stakeholders to re-instate the trimester system, as well as further consultation on the issue.
