The delegation, led by a board member of the club, Mr Vincent Sowah Odotei, handed over the MTN FA Cup and the President’s Cup to the former CEO of the club at a brief ceremony.

The delegation included the Merchandise Director of the club, Eugene Ntreh, the National Chapters Committee (NCC) General Secretary, Peter Mahama, skipper Fatawu Mohammed, Samuel Inkoom, Richmond Ayi, Patrick Razak and Eric Amponsah, the goalkeepers’ trainer.

In a speech, Mr Odotei said he was representing the majority shareholder of Hearts, Togbe Afede XIV, and the other board members for the celebration of the two trophies won and to seek his blessing towards the club’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

"You and your elders prayed for us to win these trophies and it is proper to celebrate our joy and happiness with you," he said.

Commendation

For his part, the Gbese Mantse, Nii Ayi Bonte II, who was a former board member of the club, commended the management and players for the great achievement.

"There are only three things in football; you win, draw or lose. If you win we enjoy our dishes and if you lose, we cannot eat," he said.

He noted that Kotoko were always afraid of Hearts, and therefore urged the players to beat them in the upcoming Super Cup match.

The Gbese Mantse also advised the club to settle their differences to enable them to win more laurels.

"Don’t run to the press when problems arise but try and settle them amicably,'" he said.

He recalled that during his tenure as the chairman of the club, Hearts won many trophies, including seven league titles, the CAF Champions League, CAF Super Cup and the CAF Confederation Cup.
