The Starlets, coached by Abdul Karim Zito, dominated play and took a commanding 4-0 lead in the first half.

The highly confident Ghanaian side snatched the opener as early as the thrid minute through a penalty kick converted by three-goal hero, Benjamin Tsivanyo. That was after chief tormentor, Bossman Debrah, was fouled in the box in the second minute.

With that advantage, the Starlets continued to probe for more goals with their beautiful passing game and were adequately rewarded with two more goals cooked for Tsivanyo by the unstoppable Bossman and playmaker Ramsay Asumadu midway through the first half.

And just before the break, strong defender, Theophilus Adjetey, fired home a powerful freekick outside the box in the 44th monute to seal the doom of the Serbians.

The Europeans, however, fought gallantly in the second in a bid to reduce the tally but goalkeeper Mohammed Bashiru and his solid defence marshalled by Adjetey and Gideon Yiriyon denied them even a face-saving goal.

Ghana will play Spain in their second game on Saturday, before facing Switzerland next Tuesday.
