Following a day of fierce competition, Ghana has established an impressive lead at the top of the medal table, securing a remarkable total of 62 medals.

This outstanding achievement includes an impressive haul of 17 Gold medals, 26 Silver medals, and 19 Bronze medals.

While Ghana's team, known as the "Golden Arms," has showcased remarkable prowess, they face formidable competition from other nations equally vying for the top spot.

Egypt, Nigeria, and Mali have also displayed their strength and determination, earning commendable positions within the top four of the medal table after the initial day of intense battles.

The Africa Armwrestling Championship, a three-day event, will continue until Sunday, June 25, 2023, providing participants with ample opportunities to showcase their skill and tenacity.

Beyond the competition itself, the championship holds great significance as the qualifying event for the highly anticipated 2023 Africa Games and the World Combat Games, scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia.

Ghana, having successfully hosted the Africa Armwrestling Championship in 2018, is privileged to host this prestigious event for the second time.

It will be recalled that Ghana won a total of 45 medals to finish third at the 11th Africa Armwrestling Championships in Lagos.

The Ghanaian team came home with 18 gold medals, 22 silver and five bronze medals to finish behind hosts Nigeria (27 gold medals) and Egypt (24 gold medals).
