Head coach of the Black Stars, Otto Addo has defended his team’s forwards after Ghana’s goalless draw with Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday, in a 2025 AFCON qualifier.
Addo's defense followed the Black Stars' failure to convert several scoring opportunities, leading them to miss out on their first win in their last three matches of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
Black Stars forwards Inaki Williams, Antoine Semenyo and midfielder Mohammed Kudus were wasteful in front of goal in the game.
Despite the frustrating play in front of goal, Otto Addo defended his attackers assuring that they will do the needful in the next game.
“I think they have shown on every level that they can score and I believe in them; they will score the next game,” he said at a post-match presser on Thursday, October 10.
Addo however, lamented the missed opportunities but remained confident about Ghana’s chances in the next match.
“Sudan were very lucky today. In the next game, they won’t be lucky,” he added.
Ghana occupy the third position in Group F with two points from three games while Sudan ae second with four points.
The return fixture is scheduled for October 14 at the Martyrs of February Stadium in Libya.
