The East Mamprusi District Assembly is to spend GH ¢50,000.00 from its District Assembly's Common Fund to assist in the establishment of the Health Assistance Training School.
Mr. Peter Wuni, the District Chief Executive, said the money would enable the school to take off smoothly whilst it waits for adequate funding from the Ministry of Health.
Addressing the Third Ordinary Session of the assembly at Gambaga on Friday, he said the assembly had earmarked over GH¢12,000.00 to cater for police officers who are to be posted to the new police post at Langbensi.
Mr. Wuni said the assembly had bought 530 low tension electricity poles and five drums of cables to extend electricity to more communities.
Accommodations for heads of departments are ongoing and these include rehabilitation of the residences of the District Director of the Electoral Commission, the District Information Officer and the District Police Commander.
He said inflation and natural events like floods had delayed the projects and that projects being executed by the assembly were three-unit classroom block at Jarigitinga and the rehabilitation of the Sakogu-Siisi road.
Mr. Dan Kolbila, Presiding Member of the Assembly, thanked members and political party activists for working together and getting their followers to conduct themselves well that led to a peaceful election on December 07 and expressed the hope that they would exhibit the same maturity in the presidential run-off.
