The Upper East Region House of Chiefs has urged President John Atta Mills to make good the promises he has made to Ghanaians, particularly those regarding the development of the
three Northern Regions.
A message to the Head of State signed by Paga-Pio, Pe Awiah Awampaga II, President of the House, and copied to the press in Bolgatanga, congratulated President Atta Mills on his victory and that of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the just-ended general election.
"We the chiefs and people of this region have no doubts in our minds that you can deliver. Your victory is a God-sent one and we therefore pledge our unflinching support for you and your government," said the message.
The message commended former President J.A. Kufuor for successfully steering the affairs of the nation to the admiration of the entire world, and for championing a peaceful handing over of power to the Atta Mills Administration.
It also commended the flag-bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo in the December polls, for "putting up a strong fight" during the Presidential election, and for his show of tolerance and self-comportment.
"We wish to congratulate all Ghanaians for the role they also played as individuals and groups for the peaceful 2008 elections," it concluded.
