Mr Emmanuel Tetteh Danyo, Agona East Constituency Organiser of National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appealed to President John Evans Atta Mills to appoint honest, dedicated and hard working Ghanaians as Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCE) to accelerate development of rural communities.
He noted that the appointment of lazy, arrogant, indiscipline and corrupt people would undermine development in the rural communities.
Speaking to Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Agona Nsaba, Mr Danyo said "if the right calibre of people were not appointed, President Mills' vision for 'A Change for Better Ghana' cannot be achieved."
He appealed to President Mills to adhere strictly to the guidelines and procedure in the NDC's Constitution by consulting party executives and elders for the appointment of MMDCEs to ensure the choice of the people were appointed.
Mr Danyo, a former National Organiser of Ghana National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GHNAFF) reminded President Mills of his promise to consult traditional rulers on the appointment of MMDCEs.
He urged Government to address the issue of pre-mix fuel which had become bone of contention for fishermen in the country, distribution of farming inputs to promote food production and an effective and efficient means to handle the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) to promote agriculture.
