Indonesian General Election Commission (KPU) told political parties to register their presidential candidates and vice presidential candidates for the July 8 presidential election by May 17, a KPU official said here on Tuesday.

KPU said that it would allocate 800 ballot papers to each polling station, comparing with only 500 in the legislative elections, and take another up to 2 percent papers as reserve.
More than 171 million voters nationwide were listed in the KPU' s official voter list. KPU set up more than 527,000 polling stations across the country in the legislative elections.
Meanwhile, Bawaslu Chairman Nurhidayat Sardini said that it would engage its members in the region and districts to supervise the KPU's efforts to correct its voter list so as to make sure that eligible voters have their rights to vote.
The second round presidential election will be held on September 8, if no eligible candidate singled out as the winner in the election on July 8.
Indonesia's new president will be sworn in before the incumbent president ends up his presidency service tenure on October 20.
