Mr. Cuthbert Baba Kuupiel, a 40-year- old Development Planner, was on Thursday sworn into office as District Chief Executive for newly created Nandom District in the Upper West region
He took the official, allegiance and secrecy oaths which were administered by Alhaji Amidu Suleman, Upper West Regional Minister in Wa on Thursday before a packed hall with relatives, friends and Assembly members from the district.
All the 33 members of the new District Assembly, which was carved out of the Lawra District, endorsed the new DCE at an emergency meeting of the Assembly last week.
Alhaji Suleman congratulated the new DCE and urged himto show firmness and humility to anyone who would approach in order to succeed in his new appointment.
He said money was the live wire of every District Assembly and he should therefore see mobilization of revenue as key to the development of the district instead of relying on the District Assemblies’ Common Fund.
The Regional Minister noted that there were positive signs that the people were fully prepared for the district judging from their unity of purpose in endorsing the Presiding Member and recent wholesale confirmation of the DCE without the slightest hint of opposition.
Mr. Kuupiel thanked the President for appointing him and spelled out his vision which is the "rapid development of Nandom in unity and peace" a vision which he said shared by all stakeholders of the District.
He said he would draw a blue print for the development of the district which would be ready by the end of this year.
