Wi-Fi pet camera maker and Acer unit Pawbo has introduced three new products, a lightweight activity and wellness tracker called the Pawbo iPuppyGo, cloud connected collar Pawbo WagTag to track the pet’s location and to monitor the environment around them, and Pawbo Munch, a smart treat-dispenser that works with the Pawbo+ camera system so that pet owners to interact with their pets, whether at home or from afar. Prices and availability for the devices will vary per region.
The Pawbo iPuppyGo can keep tabs of pets’ exercise levels, sleep patterns, mood index, and health status. Pet owners need only connect the device to their smartphone via an app. The device is available in five colors, and, at 35 mm in diameter, can be discreetly clipped onto the animal’s collar. The device also feature a Treasure Hunting game, with prizes and offers as incentives.
The Pawbo WagTag uses hybrid positioning technologies such as GPS, AGPS, Wi-Fi, and 3G. It uses energy efficient tracking techniques so that it can stay on the collar for days. Geo-fencing technology allows owners to create safe zones and receive push notifications when dogs enter or leave those zones. The device also includes a dynamic virtual leash feature that alerts the owner when the dog strays too far when they are out for a walk. There is also a bark detection feature that sends notifications to owners on sensing unusual barking behavior and turns on voice recording to allow owners to hear what’s going on. Additional sensors detect accidental impact and surrounding temperature. Friends and family can even help pet owners remotely ‘pet-sit,’ receiving the same notifications that owners do.
Finally, the Pawbo Munch smart treat-dispensing system can be operated by either the remote control, or through the Pawbo Life app on a smartphone, after connection with a Pawbo+ interactive pet camera. Pawbo Munch comes with a ‘slot machine’ style game that rewards pets with varying amounts of treats. The device can also play music.
