The National Investment Bank on Friday 6th July, 2018 presented a cheque of fifty-nine thousand Cedis (GHc59,000.00) to the Kunata Voluntary Organisation a non-governmental organization towards the Pamela Bridgewater Project aimed at protecting and improving the lives of head porters (Kayayei) through free health care, counselling and advocacy services.
The amount given was to fund the purchase and installation of a seventy-five (75inches) outdoor LED TV at the ‘Kayayei’ resettlement center located inside the Kejetia Market, Kumasi. A framed painting of a head porter nursing her baby was presented to NIB by the Founder of Kunata Voluntary Organisation, Yahaya Alhassan in appreciation of the bank’ssupport.
Receiving the painting on behalf of Management of the bank was the General Manager for Operation and Technology, Mr. Evans Amartey. He lauded the social intervention and expressed the hope that, activities of Kunata will be extended to other parts of the country. He added that the expansion will go a long way to protect more vulnerable women and children.
