Mr Abdul Rahaman Yakubu, the Head of the Bawku West District Business Advisory Centre (BAC), on Tuesday urged women entrepreneurs to stick to best business practices to sustain the viability of their enterprises.
Sticking to good entrepreneural skills, practicing proper book keeping and building stronger links would grow your businesses, he told the women.
Mr Yakubu said this at the opening of a training workshop held under the Rural Enterprises Project (REP) for over 166 women entrepreneurs and unemployed women at Zebilla the District capital of Bawku West in the Upper East Region.
He urged the women, being trained in soap and detergent making, batik tie and dye and soya bean processing to take the exercise serious as that would empower them economically.
Madam Victoria Ayamba, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for the area, said government was committed to fulfilling its promise on the one district one dam policy and the District was being considered for guinea fowl rearing.
Mdam Ayamba said a Guinea fowl processing factory sited in the District could produce for local and international markets and would not only create jobs for the youth but also give indirect jobs for numerous farmers in the District.
She said the Business Advisory Centre had been empowered to support the youth trainees with start- up kits to enable them establish and expand their businesses.
She said four carpenter trainees and four women groups were going to benefit from carpentry tools and saving boxes through the Japan Social Development Fund (JSDF) project.
Madam Ayamba said 87 women in three groups had earlier received shea-butter processing machines from the same project.
She called on all individuals and organizations to partner with government to develop made in Ghana goods to achieve Ghana Beyond Aid.
The Business Advisory Center (BAC) is the path to travel to tackle the rising youth unemployment and lift the people out of poverty, she said, and urged the participants to take the training serious.
