She added that they should also be assisted with the necessary tools to expand and grow their business activities.

She was addressing the 2019 Doha Forum, attended by over 3,000 delegates including more than 250 speakers from across the world.

"Reimagining governance in a multipolar world" was the theme chosen for the event.

The annual meeting, established in the year 2000, is organised by Qatar and her international partners to deliberate on diplomacy; dialogue and diversity - to promote the interchange of ideas and discourse, policy-making, and action-oriented recommendations, something seen as critical for a world where borders are porous and the challenges and solutions are also interlinked.

Ms Trump said given adequate support, women could efficiently run their own businesses and use their entrepreneurial skills to help bring development to any nation.

She applauded the Qatari example where women have adequate access to their own property, easy and equal access to credit and opportunities.

Her idea of empowering women around the world is centred on vocational training that equips them with skills to succeed in various jobs, own property, and travel freely without the consent of their husbands.

She expressed regret that in about 104 countries around the world, about 2.7 billion women were unable to work in the same institutions as men and said women should be well represented at all levels.

They needed to also be represented by lawmakers to promote their rights and empowerment as they constituted a greater part of society.

Ms Trump urged the private sector to give strong support to the various initiatives by women in their quest for personal and national development.

For the 2019 edition, participants examined governance -  questions of power, legitimacy, how public goods are provided in a society, and the mix of public and private action needed for effective problem-solving.

The delegates addressed issues including, "Paths to peace, the unwinding Africa's proxy wars: Libya and the horn of Africa, took a look ahead at investment in 2020, business leadership for positive impact and preserving human rights in in times of crisis.

They also discussed migration, extremism, refugees, global governance challenges, regional cooperation mechanisms as well as new global balances.
